Unibep SA with its partners will build an environmentally friendly boiler house for ANWIL

ANWIL, part of the ORLEN Group, will start the construction of a gas-fired steam generation facility under a new investment project. The signed agreement, worth almost PLN 250 million, will enable the implementation of more environmentally friendly solutions through the use of specially designed boilers. The new installation, along with a portion of the existing steam sources, will secure the company’s existing production facilities, as well as the new, third production line for fertilisers. The contracting entity of this investment will be a consortium of companies: UNIBEP SA with its registered office in Bielsk Podlaski, serving as consortium leader, ENERGOTECHNIKA sp. z o.o. with its registered office in Warsaw, and Zakład Automatyki Przemysłowej INTEC SA.

“It is an important project for us, as it perfectly aligns with the scope of our activities,” said Przemysław Janiszewski, a member of the Management Board of Unibep SA and Director of Power & Industry Construction. “This is also a confirmation of the high-quality competence of our employees. The investment will meet the most stringent emission standards. The fuel used to power the boiler units will be high-methane natural gas.

The new investment involves the construction of a medium-pressure steam boiler house equipped with three small industrial boiler units, with a combined max. net capacity of 150 tons of steam per hour, along with the development of the complete auxiliary infrastructure. This amount of steam, combined with the existing boiler units, will be sufficient to meet the demands of both nitrogen fertiliser production and plastic production facilities at ANWIL.

It should be noted that the new boiler house will replace the old gas and oil boiler that have been used in ANWIL almost from the company's inception. As stressed by the investor, thanks to such action, the environmental impact will be significantly reduced while improving the heat generation efficiency. The steam will be used in the production processes of fertilisers and plastics.

“The key for achieving business objectives is conscious development and following the industry’s leading trends. The construction of a new steam source is another significant investment of ANWIL in line with, among others, the pro-ecological trends of the chemical industry and the ORLEN Group’s strategy, including the decarbonisation strategy. In consideration of corporate social responsibility, our company places the local community as its top priority. This is why it focuses on ecological development and minimises the environmental impact of the installation. It is not without a significance that the investment is being implemented by Polish companies, as it brings additional benefits for the economy,” said Agnieszka Żyro, Vice President of the Management Board of ANWIL SA. “The construction of the boiler house will also enable us to fully realise the synergies arising from the cooperation with other manufacturing plants within the ORLEN Group, located in Włocławek.”

The commissioning of the new boiler house is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.
