The symbolic first shovel groundbreaking which marked the beginning of the construction of “Roads in the Industrial Zone of Suwałki,” took place on Saturday (05.08.) in Wojska Polskiego II Street in Suwałki. Let us recall that on 22 June, Adam Poliński, the board member of Unibep SA, the Director of Infrastructure Department, signed an agreement worth PLN 42 million with the City of Suwałki.
As part of the project planned by the City of Suwałki, the entire Wojska Polskiego II Street will be reconstructed, including its utility networks, stretching from Turkusowa Street up to the bus terminal at the intersection with Wojska Polskiego Street. In addition to that, a completely new road will be constructed, connecting Dubowo Street with Wojska Polskiego Street and opening up access to 60 hectares of new investment areas.
The work has been divided into two stages. In the first stage, the road connecting Wojska Polskiego and Dubowo Streets will be constructed. The documents covering these tasks have been prepared and land plots acquired. The remaining section of the road will be constructed in the “design & build” formula. The investment should be completed in the second half of 2024.
Prominent guests at the ceremony.
The event was attended by the members of parliament and representatives of central and local authorities. The construction site was visited by Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin, Member of Parliament Jarosław Zieliński, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Defence Michał Wiszniewski, Voivode of Podlaskie voivodeship Bohdan Paszkowski, Marshal of Podlaskie Voivodship Artur Kosicki, President of Suwałki Czesław Renkiewicz, President of the City Council Zdzisław Przełomiec, and City Council members.
“It is worth adding that a similar investment is being implemented by our team in Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeship. In an area of nearly 100 hectares, we are constructing the infrastructure necessary for creating a professional economic zone by the airport in Szymany. The fact that we start one project shortly after another confirms our high competence in the road and bridge construction segment. The aim of Unibep is to establish the company as a leader in the North-East Poland and to continue the expansion on the Polish market,” said Sławomir Moczydłowski, Director of the Road Infrastructure at Unibep.
