Unibep with a backlog of orders worth PLN 3.8 billion

The Unibep Group generated the PLN 2.258 billion in revenue from sales in 2022, representing a 32% year-on-year increase. During the analysed period, the EBITDA result amounted to PLN 89 million, which is a 16% increase compared to previous year. The net profit in the previous year was at the level of PLN 32 million compared to PLN 42 million generated in 2021. On 27 April, the annual report of the Unibep Group was published.

The diversification of segments is the response to the changing environment.

“The business diversification is our strength. Despite a demanding economic environment, primarily characterised by a significant inflation surge, and geopolitical disturbances, we maintained a positive sales trend in 2022. We have recorded growth in revenue in the building construction, power and industry, and infrastructure segments. We know, that 2023 will be a difficult year for the construction industry, however we look into the future with realistic optimism,” commented Leszek Gołąbiecki, President of Unibep.

The decrease of the consolidated net result is primarily the consequence of recognising the net loss of PLN 36 million generated by the modular construction segment. As a result of the war in Ukraine, Unihouse faced numerous challenges over the past year, including a sharp decline in investments, a significant increase in materials and logistics costs, disruptions to supply chains, unplanned downtimes, and a decrease in the utilisation of production capacity of the manufacturing plant. The above events, the Management Board of Unibep defines as extraordinary and intermittent, while pointing out that the ecological trends in construction and the focus on energy efficiency of buildings, supported by European legislation, should drive the demand for investments in solutions offered by Unihouse. The current value of the backlog of orders in the modular construction segment for implementation in 2023 and subsequent years is PLN 203 million.

The power and industry segment is undergoing dynamic development, with a primary focus on the energy sector. This includes the modernisation of boiler houses, power plants, heat plants, waste thermal conversion installations, and cogeneration plants. The current value of the backlog of orders of UNIBEP for 2023 and subsequent years in this business segment is approx. PLN 890 million. 

Currently, the Unibep is implementing over 40 residential, office, and industrial investments across the whole country, primarily for private investors. However, the Group notices the great potential arising from cooperation with public entities, i.e., army, central authorities and, self-government. The value of the backlog of orders in this segment for 2023 and subsequent years is approx. PLN 1.7 billion. Meanwhile, the infrastructure section of the current backlog of orders for 2023 and subsequent years is worth approx. PLN 1 billion.

The record-breaking results of Unidevelopment

In 2022 the Unidevelopment Group recorded revenue worth PLN 333 million, which signifies a 16.5% increase compared to the previous year. This is also the fourth year in a row in which this increase was in double digits. The EBITDA of the group was PLN 70.6 million compared to PLN 49.9 million in 2021. The net profit of the group rose to PLN 54.8 million and was by 30.2% higher than in 2021. During the period under review, the Unidevelopment Group conducted the sale of apartments in seven projects and sold 635 residential units, with the majority being apartments in the Poznań and Warsaw markets.

“The first months of 2023 were the period of recovery in the housing market. Better consumer sentiment, lowering the buffer applicable under the 'S' recommendation, and the announcement of support programs for homebuyers have resulted in a gradual recovery of demand. The portfolio of our investments is diversified and allows us to meet the expectations of both cash clients, who now most often decide to buy a flat, and individuals using mortgage loans, whose share in the total number of transactions is gradually recovering,” said Zbigniew Gościcki, President of Unidevelopment.

The Unidevelopment group entered 2023 with a portfolio of 459 residential units available in its offer. The scheduled commencement of new construction projects and the subsequent stages of currently ongoing projects are currently underway. The group focuses on strengthening its position in Warsaw, Poznań, Tri-City and Radom.

Promising growth prospects

The backlog of orders of the Unibep group in the construction and infrastructure segment for 2023 and subsequent amounts to approx. PLN 3.8 billion, with approx. PLN 2.2 billion in the current year.

“Despite having a satisfactory backlog of orders in the construction and infrastructure segment, we continue to actively pursue acquisitions. Since the beginning of 2023 alone, we have secured contracts worth approximately PLN 420 million. We firmly believe in the strength and stability of our company, which has consistently expanded its operations, fully capitalizing on periods of prosperity and effectively managing resources and potential during economic downturns. One of the objectives for the current year is to further increase sales, while maintaining attractive profitability indices. In 2023, our priority is to ensure financial control in every implemented investment, execute all investments according to the schedule and with the highest quality, and the welfare and development of our staff,” summarised Sławomir Kiszycki, Vice President of Unibep.

The Unibep Group is prepared to actively participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine. “With hope for a swift and equitable peace, we look to the future when our eastern neighbour will require our infrastructural assistance. We have been present on the infrastructure construction market for years and we can boast of specific and attractive projects. We hope for fruitful cooperation between Poland and Ukraine in the reconstruction of this country,”– summarised Leszek Gołąbiecki.
