We will build a biomass boiler houses in Orzysz
Unibep SA will design and implement, on a turnkey basis, the modernisation of the existing heat plant in Orzysz. The boiler house will use biomass as renewable source of energy for heat production. The Ordering Party is a public utility Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Komunalnych sp. z o.o. in Orzysz. This is the fourth investment agreement related to biomass which the General Contractor will be implementing in the north-east Poland.
The General Contractor will construct a heat plant facility, complete with the internal installations, a biomass warehouse, and a storage area equipped with a moving floor in close proximity of the biomass boiler. Additionally, Unibep will deliver and install two 5.0 MW biomass-fired water boilers along with a biomass transportation system, a boiler ash removal system, and all the necessary accompanying infrastructure. The technology supplier for the investment is Intermet — a renowned Polish manufacturer of heating equipment based in Elbląg.
“Under the agreement, we will adapt the technology of the existing boiler house to work with the designed heat plant. This will include connecting the existing and designed heat sources, adapting the pump room and safety features, as well as stabilising and refilling,” explained Krzysztof Panek, the Energy Market Director at Unibep SA. “We are also obliged to conduct a start-up test, including a 72-hour commissioning test in this case,” he added.
The commencement of the investment will take place in Q1 2023, whereas its completion is scheduled for Q4 2023.
The value of the agreement is approx. PLN 29.3 million gross (approx. PLN 23.8 million net).

The agreement concluded with the public utility Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Komunalnych in Orzysz is another investment covering construction of biomass boilers, which will be implemented the Power and Industry Construction division of Unibep SA.
“This is the fourth agreement for biomass investment signed within just five months. It is a great achievement and a great distinction for our team,” said Przemysław Janiszewski, Director of Power and Industry Construction at Unibep SA and Board Member. “I would like to point out that only a year has passed since the debut of Unibep’s Power and Industry Construction division in the market. During that time, we appointed a well-coordinated and experienced team of professionals and experts whose work we see reflected in the latest agreement signed, as well as in other contracts being executed. We have clearly marked our presence in the market and demonstrated that we can successfully compete in tenders for modernisation and transformation of the energy sector in Poland,” he added.
Currently, the General Contractor is implementing two biomass-related investments in Ełk. the first investment involves the turnkey construction of a boiler house along with infrastructure and construction and commissioning of a modern 10 MW a biomass-fired boiler using wood chips. The ordering party is the housing cooperative Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa Świt. The second investment is being carried out on behalf of Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej in Ełk. It consists in the replacement of the WR–25 coal-fired boiler with a biomass (wood chip) fired boiler and construction of a fuel storage facility and accompanying infrastructure. It also includes the delivery and installation of the boiler and construction of the biomass boiler house facilities. On the other hand, Unibep SA is designing and executing in Podlasie a project called “Modernisation of two boiler rooms and construction of another boiler room in Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej in Hajnówka”. The Ordering Party is the urban municipality of Hajnówka
Power and Industry Construction in Unibep
The Power and Industry division of Unibep SA was established within the company at the end of 2021. Its aim is building the brand recognition among investors and strengthening its position as the leading and comprehensive contractor for energy sector investments.
As the result, the company Unibep became actively involved in the transformation of the Polish energy sector towards zero- and low-emission, focusing on the principles of green economy, including construction of municipal waste incineration plants, cogeneration installations, gas boiler rooms, distributed heating systems, and projects involving the transformation and modernisation of current coal-fired systems into low-emission systems.
As a result of the conclusion of an agreement with the heating utility Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej in Orzysz, the estimated value of the backlog of orders of Unibep SA in Power and Industry Construction in 2023 for subsequent years is approx. PLN 650 million net.
