Unibep delivers the Biomass Boiler House in Hajnówka

On 14 March, we celebrated the official completion and inauguration of the new boiler house, which is an integral part of the project “Modernisation of two boiler houses and construction of a new boiler house in Hajnówka heat plant.”

Let us recall that an agreement worth PLN 10.3 million net was signed with the gmina of Hajnówka. The subject of the agreement was:

1. Construction of a new 3 MW biomass boiler house, along with the reconstruction of the existing coal boiler house infrastructure in Mała Street 9, in Hajnówka.
2. Design and construction of underground and internal gas installations in the modernised oil boiler house in Lipowa Street 166, in Hajnówka, with a capacity of 2 x 0.55 MW, including the replacement of burners and the modernisation of boiler automation.
3. Purchase of two biomass transport loaders, made by JMP Sp. z o.o. with its registered office in Białystok.

Unibep is undertaking several biomass projects in northeastern Poland, thereby supporting the energy transition in the region and aligning with global trends in renewable energy, particularly biomass combustion.

Official opening of the investment

The opening ceremony gathered numerous guests involved in the investment implementation, including local council members, clergy, and representatives from companies and institutions in Hajnówka. The symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Jerzy Sirak, Mayor of Hajnówka; Ireneusz Kiendyś, Deputy Mayor of Hajnówka; Paweł Mojsik; Contract Manager at Unibep; Dariusz Link, President of Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej (heating company); and Jarosław Kot, President of Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Komunalnych (public utilities). During the ceremonial speeches, everyone stressed the importance of this investment for the development of the city of Hajnówka, its residents, and for environmental protection.

“As the Mayor of Hajnówka, I would like to thank the professional team from Unibep all people involved in the implementation of this investment. Their dedication and precision in action contributed to the success of this investment,” said Jerzy Sirak, Mayor of Hajnówka.

“We fully met our objectives, delivering the project to PEC Hajnówka a month ahead of the originally estimated deadline. This is a remarkable achievement. Construction works lasted for nine months, and now, I am proud to say that this modern boiler house has been already supplying heat to the residents of Hajnówka for over three months. In my opinion, our investment will serve the city for the coming decades,” said Paweł Mojsik, Contract Manager and Construction Manager at Unibep SA

Unibep contributes to the energy transition in Poland

This successfully completed investment confirms the expertise of Unibep, which began its activities in the energy market in December 2021 (as BEP). In our activities, we focus on the principles of the green economy, which include, among others, the construction of municipal waste incineration plants, cogeneration installations, gas boilers, district heating systems, as well as projects involving the transformation and modernisation of existing coal-fired systems into low-emission systems. Unibep is also implementing renewable energy projects, such as photovoltaic farms and energy storage systems.

Currently, Unibep SA is implementing five biomass investments in northeastern Poland. We are modernising and constructing heating plants that will be equipped with modern biomass-fired boilers. For instance, in Orzysz, we are working for Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Komunalnych (public utilities). In Ełk, we are implementing two investments, one for the Housing Cooperative “Świt” and another for Przedsiębiorstwa Energetyki Cieplnej (heating company).
