The level of progress in the implementation of the regional road on section Lidzbark Warmiński – Wozławki at the end of September 2023 reached approx. 30%. The investment focuses on the extension of the regional road DW Nr. 513 and it is being conducted in stages. The works involve the demolition of the existing road and the construction of a new structure, mostly located within the footprint of the old road.
The total value of the agreement is PLN 145 million net, and the investor is the Voivodship Road Authority in Olsztyn. The agreement was signed on 30 March 2022. The road being expanded by Unibep’s Infrastructure Branch, is 20 kilometres long and it is classified as G-class road.
On this section, teams are simultaneously working on various aspects of construction, such as earthworks, finishing works, asphalt, power, telecommunications, sewage, and sanitation. The complexity of the project means that on certain sections the asphalt surface has already been laid, while on others, soil reinforcement is in progress, involving the concrete piles and sand-and-gravel columns technology or soil replacement.
The involvement of people and use materials in the investment
The total use of materials during the implementation of the investment is significant. On a twenty-kilometre section of the investment, the use of materials will total to 680 thousand tons of fill materials, 120 thousand tons of crushed aggregate, and 90 thousand tons of asphalt mixes.
It is also worth noting that around 200 people are currently working on the project, including 20 engineering staff, including subcontractor employees.
“During the project implementation, most of all, we faced the consequences of the events from February 2022, which affected the financial aspects and the availability of workforce. Besides, typically for most traffic infrastructure projects, archaeological findings emerge, project-related issues arise demanding a solution, and changes occur during the course of the work,” said Robert Sikora, Contract Director in the Infrastructure Branch at Unibep
