The East Design Days 2022 are over. It is one of the most important events in Podlaskie voivodship which involves talking about art, architecture, and our future. One of the organisers of the event was Unitalent, the foundation of Unibep Group.
Traditionally, we met around the table, this time in the lecture hall of the Faculty of Architecture of the Białystok University of Technology. But we also met in the TV studio where we talked with the guests to the event.
Several hundred people took part in this event getting directly involved. The information about the East Design Days reached over hundred thousand internet users through PR and marketing activities, and — if counting the media coverage — up to several hundred thousand.
This year’s event had a format orientated towards the topic of “the architecture of the new age”. Architecture, creating an environment for living, working, and development, is one of the main carriers of identity and through the place having identity architecture becomes the factor shaping whole communities. During the East Design Days 2022 we discussed with outstanding experts whether contemporary Polish architecture following the world design trends and development directions is able to create new values and contribute to improving the quality of life of local communities and develop its recognition and uniqueness.
This year on EDD we wondered if the AI could help us in preparation of architectural concepts. Is artificial imagination able to create? And does it support us in creating or does it impose limitations? We gave our attention the problem prevailing in Polish cities, and we tried to answer the question: Do we have to put up with “concreteosis” and lack of ideas for development? Can we save our cities? Why do authorities care about their terms of office but not about the values for generations? And we also discussed with a panel of industry experts — architects — how to promote a brand of an architectural studio and how to better organise its work.
What is more, during the two-day event the mural created at the Faculty of Architecture had its premiere. One could take part in a unique event called: “Rhythms of space”, which was a musical and visual performance.
Our guests, were inter alia, dr arch. Czesław Bielecki, arch. Przemo Łukasik, arch. Marta Sękulska-Wrońska, arch. Michał Czerwiński from WXCA in Warsaw, arch. Tomasz Perkowski, prof. dr hab. arch. Piotr Lorens, and dr inż. Adam Musiuk.
The strategic partner of this year’s edition of East Design Days was Marshal’s Office of Podlaskie Voivodship.
The main partners of the event were, among others, the Town Hall in Białystok and Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland.
