Today, near Ełk, the official handover of the 23-kilometre section of S61expressway took place.
Let us remind you that we are implementing the investment in a consortium with PORR. The agreement value is PLN 699 million gross, with Unibep SA’s share being 30% or approx. PLN 210 million gross.
On 13 September, a conference with the head of Ministry of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk took place. The occasion for such an important meeting was the delivery of the second section of the three sections of Via Baltica in Varmian-Masurian Voivodeship. This section goes from the end of Szczuczyn ring road to the junction called Ełk South and it is 23.3 km long. The delivery of that section is also connected with the fact that a related roundabout in Ełk has been completed.
According to the agreement, we built a two-lane expressway with service roads. We have renovated some of the local roads and built the elements of infrastructure facilitating environmental protection. As part of the investment, with the invaluable support of our colleagues from Budrex, we have completed 19 engineering structures and two junctions: junction Guty in Szczuczyn municipality and junction Ełk South in Ełk municipality near the locality called Nowa Wieś Ełcka
The S61 expressway will be part of the international road E67 connecting Central Europe with Scandinavia. The aim of this investment objective is to create the communication corridor called “Via Baltica” used for international traffic connecting Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Finland.
The section from Szczuczyn to junction Ełk South was built by the consortium of PORR and Unibep, whereas all engineering facilities were constructed by Budrex, which is part of Unibep Group. And the asphalt mixtures used along the entire length of this section were produced in the plant manufacturing mineral-asphalt mixtures located in Różyńsko and owned by Unibep SA.
