Unibep will build a hall for Mondi Warszawa
Unibep SA signed an agreement with Mondi Warszawa Sp. z o.o., for reconstruction and extension of a production and warehouse hall in Mszczonów. The value of the agreement is PLN 164 million net. This is yet another large agreement to be implemented by Unibep company in the industrial and power construction sector.
Mondi Warszawa is a manufacturer of paper and carboard packaging. The significant development of the company in recent time brought about the need to increase the usable floor area of the production hall and the expansion of technological park, as well as replacement of part of currently used equipment and technology with later counterparts and solutions. Currently, the area of the existing hall is 20 000 m2, reaching after expansion 49 000. m2.
Unibep SA, as a general contractor in turnkey formula, is responsible for comprehensive execution of design and construction works, including complete multi-industry executive design, deliveries, and performance of structural, construction, and installation works. The company's tasks include construction of the entire accompanying infrastructure the production plant, which comprises, i.a., parking spaces, driveways (and connections to existing roads), and a fire-fighting reservoir. What is important, Unibep SA, in addition to expanding the production hall, will renovate the existing part of the plant.
Construction works will be carried out in an operating plant
“In the first place, we will focus on building the extension of the existing hall. Only after the usable area is fully prepared and equipped with the necessary equipment and technology, we are able to start work on the old hall: renovation and refurbishment of worn-out surface, installation of new technological devices, including an industrial boiler with its technological circuit, compressed air generating circuit, etc.” explains Marcin Zawada, Contract Manager in Unibep SA, adding: “The biggest challenge we will have to face is to carry out construction works in an operating plant, with its machines and employees at work. Therefore, we have to plan our work appropriately, so as not to pose any risk to equipment, manufacturing process, or employees in the hall; all that ensuring safety of the team working on the construction site”.
Preparation of the construction site will begin after 18 April 2022. Implementation works will start in July and end in the third quarter of 2023.
Unibep builds for industry and energy sectors
The share of industrial and energy construction in sales of Unibep SA is growing year by year. The year 2021 was important for the company in terms of activities related mainly to acquisition of further agreements for construction of facilities in this business segment. We continue to develop structures dedicated to that purpose.
“The agreement with Mondi Warszawa is yet another large agreement to be implemented in the industrial and power construction sector. We are glad that more and more investors choose us on Warsaw Stock Exchange in this type of projects. On the other hand, we are not surprised by the company’s choice, because we already have in our portfolio several serious investments that have been highly demanding in terms of technology and workmanship” said Przemysław Janiszewski, Director of Industrial and Power Construction of Unibep SA. “It is worth mentioning here, at least, the construction of a new Olefin III complex in the production plant of PKN ORLEN SA in Płock or the project to adapt the heat sources used in Energetyka Cieszyńska to the applicable to environmental legislation. Unibep is also involved in the construction of Polimery-Police complex, currently the largest investment under construction in the industrial segment in Poland. Furthermore, we completed big investments for MLEKOVITA Dairy Cooperative in recent years. Currently, the market is undergoing a big change; potential clients more often expect the contractor to provide a comprehensive service. That is why our main objective to be achieved in the industrial and power construction is implementation of turnkey investments together with the whole required technology”.
