Mamy kolejną umowę z WAT!

On Thursday, 12 October, at the Prostki Municipality Office, an agreement was signed for the expansion of the national Road No. 65 on section Nowa Wieś Ełcka – the border of the voivodship. The value of the agreement is PLN 128.4 million gross, which makes approx. PLN 104.4 million net.

The documents were signed by Wojciech Kossakowski, member of parliament; Paweł Czemiel, member of Warmia and Mazury Voivodeship council; Wojciech Cybulski, Education Deputy Superintendent in Warmia and Mazury voivodeship; Rafał Wilczewski, Head of Prostki municipality; Mirosław Nicewicz, Director of Olsztyn Branch of GDDKiA; and Tomasz Osewski, Head of Ełk municipality.

On behalf of Unibep, the agreement was signed by Sławomir Moczydłowski, Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Branch of Unibep SA. The event was attended by Piotr Lipiński, Director of the Infrastructure Market, Paweł Duchnowski, Director of Infrastructure Branch Offering Department of the Infrastructure Branch, and Dawid Kakareko, the Contract Director who will oversee the construction on the national road No. 65.

“It will be the most expensive national road in Poland, and we are very pleased to be able to carry out this investment. We thank the GDDKiA in Olsztyn for their trust. A week ago, we met when signing the agreement for the extension of the national road No. 63 on section Borki – Jeże. Today, we are signing another crucial agreement for Warmia and Mazury voivodeship agreement for the section of national road No. 65, which connects with the Podlaskie Voivodeship,” stated Dawid Kakareko, Contract Director.

Task specification

The project, we will be undertaking, involves the construction of the new road surface with an allowable pressure of 11.5 tons per axle and a width of 8 metres in a section spanning 12.4 kilometres. We will also rebuild 16 intersections and create sidewalks, totalling approximately 11 km in length, and 10 bus bays. An important element of the investment will be the creation of a pedestrian and cycling route spanning over 2.5 kilometres. Furthermore, we will conduct works related to the reconstruction of nine culverts and a bridge structure, as well as install lighting to enhance road safety.

What is next?

This year, preparatory works have been scheduled, along with tree clearing and partial demolition activities. During the winter months, the documentation will be prepared, and in the spring, we plan to conduct the work along the entire 13 km section of the reconstructed road. This is associated with significant traffic disruptions in the centre of Prostki due to the complex situation related to the reconstruction of the underground infrastructure.

Completion deadline

The contracting authority requires that the works, along with obtaining the road-use permit, be completed within 18 months from the date of signing the agreement. Winter periods from 16 December to 15 March are excluded from time of construction works.
