Our identity

Unibep Group is a group of companies with Polish capital, operating in various segments of the construction industry (enclosed structures, energy and industrial construction, commercial and service buildings, road and bridge construction, public utility construction, as well as production of modular houses and residential development activity). We implement projects in Poland and on the European market. Our history dates back to 1950. For over 70 years we have been consistently diversifying our business and successfully developing our operations. We owe our success to three values that guide our staff: knowledge, passion and trust. These values are the cornerstones of our organisational culture and guide all our actions.

PROFESSIONALISM

We possess the knowledge and skills required to handle increasingly demanding projects. For years we have been among the industry leaders and are the largest exporter of construction services in Poland. We aspire to be one of the biggest players in the European market.

QUALITY

The quality of our projects is our calling card, and we therefore make every effort to ensure that all work related to the provision of our services conforms to the highest norms and standards. We keep abreast of market trends and development of new technologies so that we can use them quickly and effectively in our daily work. We care about feedback from our customers and their satisfaction with our services. We use the conclusions drawn from our customer satisfaction surveys to improve our skills and project delivery process.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

We are aware that the construction industry is facing major changes in the area of environmental protection. This is why we coordinate all activities related to the development of pro-environmental attitudes among our employees, apply high standards on our projects and improve processes in order to minimise the impact of our activities on the environment and climate. We are guided by the following principle: the environment must be respected and any actions taken must result in its improvement, and never in its deterioration.

COMMITMENT

Work is our passion. It motivates us to continually develop and pursue further ambitious goals. We push our boundaries because we are ambitious and creative. Good and healthy team relations are the foundation that we use to build up our business. We strive to foster these relations not only among close colleagues, but also when dealing with our customers.

PRIDE

We are proud of what we have achieved so far. However, we are also aware that success requires humility, as well as courage and efficient work. That's why every day we look back on our past with pride and bravely look to the future, constantly improving our competencies.

COURAGE AND SENSIBILITY

Innovation is Unibep Group's passion. Breaking records, winning awards and pushing our boundaries is our bread and butter. We want to constantly improve ourselves, but we act in a sensible manner, identifying and eliminating potential threats that could jeopardise our stability.

TEAMWORK

We enjoy being with each other and working together. We have a mutual respect for each other which is expressed in our daily actions. We respect everyone we work with, regardless of cultural and religious differences. We treat everyone according to the principle of equality. We believe that only teams that respect and understand each other can be successful.

RESPONSIBILITY

We fulfil our responsibilities to our customers, colleagues and employees with integrity. We always honour our commitments. We enthusiastically pursue all projects based on high ethical standards.

COMMUNITY

We treat our community with respect and dignity. We stay close to those who need us. We support culture, sport, charity and social initiatives. We also create the future by supporting talented entrepreneurial young people.

Knowledge, Passion, Trust

These are the cornerstones on which we build our corporate culture and which are also visible on our logos in the form of development guidelines. They are the core of Unibep Group's identity. Decency and respect, combined with professionalism, are what we expect from ourselves, our employees and our business partners. These values underpin the stability of our business in all areas and in every company. You can count on us to uphold these values. Always.

Employment

Employees are our key resource allowing us to shape and develop our organisation. We are committed to creating a friendly workplace in collaboration with our teams of dedicated employees.

We constantly seek to expand our knowledge. We place great emphasis on employee education through training and professional courses. We ensure the "replaceability" of staff and exchange of experience and skills between employees. To this end, we have implemented a mentoring programme and other training programmes for employees.

The financial aspect plays a significant role in the implementation of an effective employment policy in our organisation. We carry out periodic reviews and ad hoc wage and salary adjustments. Their purpose is to adjust wages and salaries in individual positions to the salary structure of Unibep Group, as well as to keep them abreast of current salary levels in the market.

Diversity as a value

Our organisation places great emphasis on the policy of equal treatment and diversity management, especially in the areas of recruitment, performance evaluation, training, promotion, and wages and salaries. Our activities in the area of diversity include making it part of our corporate documents, such as organisational culture or the collective bargaining agreement. Creating the right atmosphere at work is an important part of implementing the principles of diversity in practice, thanks to which our employees feel appreciated and respected, and have the opportunity to develop and fully realise their professional potential.

Every new hire must sign a declaration confirming that they have reviewed our statement on equal treatment at work. Any discrimination in employment, whether direct or indirect, in particular regarding sex, age, disability, race, religion, nationality, political beliefs, trade union membership, ethnic origin, belief, sexual orientation, and with regard to being employed on a fixed-term contract or a permanent contract, or on a full-time or part-time basis – is unacceptable. We have not developed a single diversity policy document. Nonetheless, over the years we have developed certain rules of conduct in this area, which are codified in Unibep Group's Code of Conduct.

Our headquarters are located in the Podlasie region, considered to be a melting pot of various nations, cultures and communities; consequently, the employees and members of the company's governing bodies come from different backgrounds and cultures, represent different mindsets and points of view and have different life and professional experiences.

Occupational health and safety

Creating safe working conditions is our priority, as our activities require us to be particularly attentive to safety rules. The group has implemented an employee health and safety management system, based on the "ISO 45001 – Occupational health and safety management systems. Requirements and guidelines for application" standard, issued in 2018 by the International Organization for Standardization. The standard sets out requirements relating to occupational health and safety (OHS) management systems. It formulates both practical rules on ensuring the safety of people and companies, as well as guidelines for its application enabling the continuous monitoring and optimisation of activities in the area of OHS.

Our health and safety management system applies to all employees and all offices, factories and sites operated by each Unibep Group company. The Health and Safety Department works with the Legal Department to monitor changes in health and safety legislation on an ongoing basis and keeps a list of such changes, available to all employees on the intranet.

Since 2015, Unibep SA has been a member of the Alliance for Safety in Construction (Porozumienia dla Bezpieczeństwa w Budownictwie). It is an initiative of fourteen general contractors and is aimed at improving safety on construction sites in Poland.

Training and education of employees

The dynamic and constant changes that affect every aspect of companies active in the market, such as changes to the legal system and work systems, and rapid technological development, require effective management of employee development programmes. We want our employees to develop their professional potential, which will be of benefit both to themselves and the entire Unibep Group. By creating training plans, the HR Department effectively manages the development of employees in their respective positions and provides them with the necessary knowledge. Thanks to training and development programmes that improve competencies and provide new skills, employees become more effective, more committed to their tasks and derive satisfaction from their jobs.

We implement our employee competence development plan through external training provided by specialised external companies and internal training provided by our own employees as part of the Unibep Group Knowledge Academy, which supports the flow of knowledge within the organisation. Other forms of employee development support include subsidising extramural studies (first and second cycle), post-graduate studies, professional licensing examinations and participation in thematic conferences, webinars or online training on GDPR.

Equal opportunity

Diversity and equal opportunities are very important aspects in the functioning of our organisation in the labour market. Fostering diversity helps us make our company more creative and build effective teams that complement each other. Creating the right atmosphere at work is an important part of implementing the principles of diversity in practice, thanks to which our employees feel appreciated and respected, and have the opportunity to develop and fully realise their professional potential. Unibep Group's corporate documents address this and guarantee respect for diversity and equal opportunities. These include:

  1. Unibep Collective Bargaining Agreement

  2. Work regulations applicable in all other group companies

  3. Unibep Group's Code of Conduct

Unibep Group's Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct sets out the business standards and best practices applicable to all Unibep Group companies in their relations with business partners and in internal relations. We base our activities on three values: knowledge, passion and trust. These values form the basis for transparent and fair business conducted in accordance with applicable laws and internal regulations. The quality of our work and the products we manufacture is the result of cooperation in the spirit of tolerance, balance, honesty, respect for human rights and safety. Unibep Group's Code of Conduct is the starting point for and coexists with other regulations applicable within the group. All other internal group policies take into account the principles contained therein.

Business ethics

As employees of Unibep Group, we are aware of the importance of business ethics and the need to respect them when working for a listed company. We strive to ensure that all employees adopt the best models of behaviour. We believe that corruption and bribery are elements of a broader phenomenon related to values, ethics and integrity in business. The risk of corruption and bribery is much lower where people act based on transparent and generally known ethical values. That's why it's so important to provide staff with regular training to review and discuss applicable internal procedures and instructions. Unibep Group has implemented the following internal regulations in the area of ethics:

Management of identified risks

Risk management at Unibep Group is implemented in the context of the strategic and operational objectives of the entire organisation, its individual companies, branches or organisational processes. Each stage of the risk management process should be linked to our strategy, organisational culture and structure, internal processes, applicable policies, standards and procedures, as well as expectations and objectives. Risks are monitored on an ongoing basis. As part of the risk management process, all our employees are advised and trained so as to act appropriately, taking into account existing external and internal circumstances, as well as the types of risks that affect our ability to achieve the set business objectives.

Responsibility to customers

Customer satisfaction is our primary objective. We strive to achieve this goal in observance of all applicable legal requirements regarding the products and services we provide. Unibep SA has adopted the requirements of international ISO standards as a set of best, available and recommended practices for doing business in various aspects of corporate social responsibility. The group manages environmental issues, occupational safety, quality of construction works and manufactured construction products, and applies the requirements of standards ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and PN-EN 13108-21 within its organisation by implementing a cohesive integrated management system which is subject to independent certification.

Integrated management system

The operation of Unibep SA's integrated management system is regularly analysed with regard to risks. All internal company processes are monitored, overseen and described in the form of internal procedures, available to employees on the intranet. Instructions and directives referring to the integrated management system meet the requirements of due diligence procedures. Our objectives are endorsed in the Integrated Management System Policy adopted by the Management Board of Unibep SA, which gives priority to the needs of customers, continuous development of employee skills, effective management of occupational health and safety and environmental protection, compliance with applicable laws and ethical standards, and cooperation with local communities. The Integrated Management System Policy can be found here:

Compliance with regulations

All works carried out on our construction sites are performed in accordance with legal requirements as well as the internal health, safety and environmental requirements and standards of Unibep Group. We continuously monitor legal regulations applicable to occupational health and safety and environmental protection, keep records and verify the company's compliance with legal requirements, conduct compliance reviews on construction sites and perform compliance assessments.

Supply chain

A great deal depends on our subcontractors, so we choose them carefully, including on the basis of health, safety and environmental criteria.

Sustainable development

[arrow-down]

Building a world for future generations

Sustainable development is, "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" – this statement is a quote taken from the "Our Common Future" report by the World Commission on Environment and Development of 1987. Despite the passage of years, this definition still accurately reflects the idea of sustainable development. Sustainable development is today seen to be based on three main pillars, referred to as ESG: Environmental, Social and Governance, which are inextricably linked.

Unibep Group believes that sustainable economic development should lead to greater social cohesion and justice and improve the quality of the environment. We have therefore decided to develop our company in a responsible manner, giving equal consideration to the three areas: E, S and G. We make every effort to better identify our impact on the environment, and monitor stakeholder expectations on ESG issues. Based on the information gathered, we develop plans and implement viable actions that strengthen and improve sustainability-related areas within our organisation.

In 2021, we created a new organisational unit within the structures of Unibep SA – the Office of Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection, responsible for coordinating all activities related to the development of pro-environmental attitudes among our employees, as well as implementing high standards on our projects and improving processes to minimise our environmental footprint. We also created the ESG Project Team, composed of representatives of various companies forming part of the corporate group, working under the direction of the Board of Directors to work out how to pursue the group's agreed policy on sustainability.

As Unibep Group, we want to operate in a responsible and sustainable manner. Since 2016, we have been preparing sustainability reports describing our environmental, social and economic performance. Reports are published on an annual basis and are available under the Sustainability Reports tab (direct link to the tab). Preparation of Unibep Group's sustainability report is overseen by the Vice President of the Management Board, Chief Financial Officer. ESG issues are addressed at Supervisory Board meetings.

A sustainable world is not only an ideal vision of the future, but also a commitment made by the United Nations in 2015. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are a tool to meant to make that vision a reality. Unibep Group firmly believes that by shaping an attitude of shared responsibility for the world around us among our stakeholders, we are giving future generations a chance.
