Unibep Group among leaders

The Unibep Group ranked 6th in the "Polish construction companies 2020" report prepared by the consulting company Deloitte.

According to the published financial data, the summed-up revenue of the fifteen biggest construction companies in 2019 is around PLN 33 billion, like in the previous year.

As at the end of 2019, the biggest part of the construction and assembly market in Poland were non-residential buildings (32.6%), transport infrastructure (29.1%) and residential buildings (16.9%). The remaining part covered pipelines, telecommunication and power lines, structures in industrial areas and other civil engineering facilities.

- The main driving force of the construction market in Poland are investments carried out by the biggest public investors in the field of road and rail infrastructure. Many infrastructure projects are currently under implementation undoubtedly contributing to a further increase in construction and assembly production. The investment peak in road and rail investments is a challenge for contractors due to the costs of materials and remuneration that have been increasing for several years. In recent months, due to the decline in demand for construction services in the private sector caused by the uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a slowdown in price growth- wrote the authors of the report.

The report also included the opinion of Leszek Gołąbiecki, President of the Management Board of Unibep SA considering the future of the construction industry. “In the nearest future, the construction industry will perform at a good level. It can be said that the current situation related to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic has calmed the mood in the industry both in terms of relations between big companies and smaller subcontractors and in the context of historically rising labour costs - said Leszek Gołąbiecki. - We observe increased access to employees on the market, the prices of subcontracting and materials are not subject to any significant fluctuations, which enhances realistic planning of future works in the contracted budgets. The negative effect is certainly the lack of launching new contracts in the private sector which, however, it is compensated by a relatively large number of contracts in the public sector. This may affect the level of competitiveness of new tender procedures in the future".

It is worth reminding that compared to last year's Deloitte report, the Unibep Group did not change its rank (6th place in the country in terms of income).
