We will build the Bielsk Podlaski - Hajnówka road

It was not a usual agreement signing, as on 5 October 2020 in the very centre of Bielsk Podlaski, Artur Kosicki, Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship and Adam Poliński, Infrastructure Director of Unibep SA, i.e. the company that will perform together with partners the reconstruction of the road section from Bielsk Podlaski to Hajnówka, officially signed the agreement.

The provincial road No. 689 on Bielsk Podlaski - Hajnówka section is over 24 kilometres long. The investment will be implemented in the "design and build" formula. It will be implemented by  a consortium of companies with Unibep as its leader. The partners are Maksbud Sp. z o.o., a company from Bielsk Podlaski, and Value Engineering Sp. z o. o., a company from Warsaw.

- We are very happy that local companies will build the road from Bielsk Podlaski to Hajnówka. Together with our partners, we have proven more than once that we can work effectively together. I declare that we will take every effort to ensure that in about two years travellers will drive the wide and safe road, said during the meeting Adam Poliński, Infrastructure Director of Unibep SA.

The reconstructed section of the provincial road (DW) 689 is located in municipalities of Bielsk Podlaski, Orla, Czyże and Hajnówka. The over 24-kilometre long section of the road will be extended and widened. Additionally, a bypass of the village of Hołody will be built, and exits, crossings, and the bridge over Orlanka river will undergo a reconstruction. Sidewalks will be built in the localities where the road passes.

The cost of the investment cost is nearly PLN 115 million. The ordering party is the Podlaskie Voivodeship Road Authority in Białystok, a unit subordinate to the Marshal's Office of Podlaskie Voivodeship. The whole investment will be financed from government funds.

The design works will commence within 5 days from the conclusion of the agreement, and they will be completed within 16 months (or 27 months if it is necessary to prepare an environmental impact assessment report under the procedure leading to obtain an environmental decision), while construction works are to take 21 months from the construction site handover date.

According to preliminary estimates, the reconstructed section should be ready by the end of 2023.
