Unibep will work on extension of the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw

Unibep SA will construct the building of the Copernican Revolution Laboratory, which will be part of the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. This is another prestigious investment in Warsaw that will be carried out by the Company from Bielsk Podlaski.

On 30 June 2020, Unibep SA concluded related investment agreement. The ordering party is the Copernicus Science Centre with its office in Warsaw. The total cost of the investment is about PLN 65 million (gross amount).

The building will be constructed in the Śródmieście district on Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie street in Warsaw. Usable area of the property will be approx. 4.6 thousand sq. m , three storeys above ground. The project also includes construction of a skyway, implementation of technical devices necessary for functioning of the building, and other elements of land development.

The building's name is not coincidental. The edifice to be constructed will facilitate a special interdisciplinary research and development centre. According to the Copernicus Science Centre, it will be an innovation centre in Mazovia and the first R&D centre in the country focused on learning processes and social involvement in learning. "The basic subject of R&D works will be the development of education in the so called STEAM area (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), supporting the development of key competences in the 21st century. The innovative educational products and solutions as well as research services created here will be commercialised" - informs the website of the Copernicus Science Centre.

Another important part is the design itself, which assumes that the building is to be ecological in use. The material from which the facade is designed has very good energy-saving properties and is environmentally friendly. - The material applied for the facade has very good thermal properties and transmits light very well. Besides, it can be shaped freely, which was also very important. In particular, also because there is a skyway to be created connecting the Copernicus Science Centre and the Copernican Revolution Laboratory - says on pages of muratorplus.pl Joanna Kalinowska, the development director of Copernicus Science Centre.

The construction works will be carried out with application of BIM (Building Information Modelling) digital technology, which involves modelling the building in 3D view and enables ongoing cooperation between the architect, contractor, and investor at every stage of the project. BIM models have been prepared by the Technical Office of Unibep SA.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Regional Operational Programme of the Masovian Voivodeship for 2014-2020. Implementation will start in July 2020 and it will last 20 months.

It is worth adding that this is subsequent prestigious investment deal of Unibep SA on the Warsaw market. The Company from Bielsk Podlaski has built Galeria Północna shopping centre, the Aura Sky apartment building  in Warsaw's Praga, and the Unique Tower Technical Office (underway).

Unibep SA is the largest general contractor of residential estates in the capital. The company builds for both private investors (domestic and foreign) as well as for the housing cooperatives of the capital.
