Europe in Bielsk Podlaski

A few hundred people, mainly the employees of Unihouse, Unibep SA Branch, took part in the ceremony of laying the cornerstone for the construction of a new production hall in Bielsk Podlaski. Also present were local government officials, construction workers, invited guests and media.

- Once we have built the new production hall, we will become the leading producer of wooden modules in Europe – said Jan Mikołuszko, President of the Supervisory Board of Unibep SA. – New markets, not only Scandinavian ones, are opening for Unihouse, that is why increasing the potential of the factory is justified.

New workplaces

Heads of Unihouse pay attention to the important aspects of factory expansion: the production process will be rationalized and better-managed, which is connected with measurable savings, and the employees’ work comfort will improve, as all works will be performed indoors.

- Unihouse extension means an increase in employment. We will additionally require as many as approx. 150 employees. Nearly 500 people are currently employed at Unihouse –  added Roman Jakubowski, Unihouse Director.

New markets

Last year Unibep SA bought a large plot of land located near the current factory with development in view. Currently, there are construction works ongoing, connected with the construction of new buildings and the installation of devices facilitating the production process.

- New markets are opening for our products – mainly Sweden, where there is a high demand for green, quickly-built residential buildings. Yet, Unihouse's products are acquired also on other European markets – added Roman Jakubowski during the presentation. - The investment project provides for an increase in the capacity of approx. 1000 modules per year produced currently to the target value – as many as approx. 2000 modules per year.

New products

However, just increasing the factory’s production capacity is not enough for the ambitious managers of Unihouse.

- We also have a number of ideas for new products constructed from modules manufactured at Unihouse –  said Roman Jakubowski. –  We want to use these modules to build tall, multi-storey buildings. We are working on inexpensive construction which would incorporate modules. Under EU funding, our Research & Development Department will build a zero-energy house in Bielsk Podlaski which in future will allow for the production of extremely ecological modules, including passive houses. Unihouse is headed towards a very promising future.

Planned investment finalization - 1st quarter of 2018.
