We will build a shopping gallery in Kharkov, Ukraine

Unibep SA will be the general contractor for the construction of a big shopping centre in Kharkov, Ukraine. Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) granted the Ukrainian investor Nikolsky LLC a credit to finance this investment.

The modern shopping centre in Kharkov will have the area of approx. 52 thousand sq. m. The total contract value is approx. EUR 44.8 million net, which equals to approx. PLN 191.0 million net.

One of the conditions for granting the credit to the buyer is ensuring that minimum 40% of products and services (provided and implemented under the export contract) will come directly from Poland. As the construction works progress, the credit funds will be transferred by BGK directly to the account of the Polish exporter. Nikolsky LCC from Ukraine, being the borrower, will be responsible for repayment of the credit. Among the tenants of the shopping centre there should probably be Polish companies as well, contributing to increase of their brand recognition on the Ukrainian market.

-We are pleased to be the developer of the shopping centre in Kharkov, Ukraine - says Leszek Gołąbiecki, the president of the management board of Unibep SA - The investor wants us to implement a turnkey project, which is an expression of confidence in our skills. I want to stress that we have relevant experience - we have built a four-star hotel "Victoria" in Minsk in the Republic of Belarus, which was a turnkey project. Owing to involvement of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and KUKE in the project, we have collectively prepared a good offer for the Ukrainian investor. The investment is financially secure for Unibep SA. Owing to this, now we may focus on the quality of the investment and its timely completion.

It is worth adding that the building in Kharkov is the second shopping mall to be constructed by Unibep SA in Ukraine. Earlier, the Polish company signed an agreement for construction of a large shopping centre in Kiev, where the investment is already underway. BGK is also involved in this project.

-Polish exporters at BGK are primarily looking for support in financing their export sales on so-called markets of enhanced risk. Through this type of transaction, we give entrepreneurs a chance to grow and strengthen their and our country position abroad. We see a huge potential in increasing exports on the Ukrainian market and the financing granted to Unibep SA means yet another project in which we are involved. We completed the previous transaction in November 2018, granting a EUR 41 million credit for the construction of a shopping and recreation complex in Kiev. With our support, we secure the financial side of the contract, we monitor the implementation of the investment and we pay the funds directly to the exporter's account. That means the Polish entrepreneur does not bear any risk of its contractor's insolvency. This type of financing increases the competitiveness of Polish export. - says Arkadiusz Zabłoński, the director of the Foreign Transactions Office in BGK.

The political and commercial risk of the transaction is covered by the insurance policy from KUKE SA required for each contract of that type.
